The brother of former world champion Boza Edwards has embarked on helping Uganda professional boxers train as a way of meeting the standards of international professional boxing requirements.

Sero Addes is always at Kampala Boxing Club gym at Nakivubo every morning to train a number of boxers, including UK bound Sula Segawa in a two-hour workout as a way of keeping them fit and readying them for engagements.

Edwards is a former 1981 World Boxing Council Super Heavy weight champion who had migrated to England but is now America training fellow boxers.

Addes, who trains over 15 boxers, says that Uganda has talent but they only need to work hard and get an opportunity to excel.

“They are talented but do not have an opportunity,” he stresses in his American English.

He however said that the biggest problem is that when they get somewhere, they start disrespecting the people that train them and prepare them to win titles and this is the biggest problem that needs to be addressed.

“Respect your coaches in whatever circumstances and you will succeed. Without that, you are bound to fail. Listen and follow the instructions despite hard work,” said Sero.
