Ivan Byekwaso is racing against time to be able to compete at the World Body Building Championship in Slovakia due June 27-28.

The USPA body builder of the year will travel on Tuesday if he secures sh5m.

“I’m ready to give my best but I’ am still stuck and short of sh5m. I appeal to anyone including NCS to come to my rescue to enable me travel,” Byekwaso told a press conference held at Buziga Country Club Monday.

Having secured the travel visa from Nairobi on Thursday, Byekwaso has only managed to get sh2m out of the sh7m needed for travel, upkeep and accomodation.

Brother Ronnie of ETM International Church offered the athlete the money.

Uganda Body Building and Fitness Association president Twaha Ddungu said the late search for money was due to the late arrival of the invitational letter that came in only last week, yet the athlete had to travel to Nairobi to secure a visa.

“We have high hopes in Byekwaso because he has always represented us well, so we’re praying that someone rescues him because he in in fine shape and we believe he will perform well if he gets the money to travel,” Ddungu said.
