FRANK Nsubuga and Davis Turinawe made their experience count against Nile. The result was a comfortable 145-run win for Tornado in the UCA National League division one Sunday at Kyambogo against a team that has been surging.
Nsubuga was influential with both bat and ball, first scoring 43 runs off 65 balls as Tornado raced to 223 all out in 49 overs before returning to claim an amazing 5/10 in 10 overs.
Turinawe scored a match-best 48 runs off 74 for Tornado, whose total was relatively defendable. Turns out, it was way out of Nile’s reach.
Brian Masaba and Phillp Arinaitwe took 3/37 and 2/32 respectively for the few Nile individual performances worth highlighting. Nile’s batting arguably had none although Dhaval Phatel and Martin Ondeko were able to reach double figures with 25 and 11 runs respectively.
In addition to Nsubuga’s fiver, veteran Nehal Bibodi took 2/11 for Tornado, who showed what happens when their experience and structural balance click.
Meanwhile, Arthur Ziraba helped the Wanderers make it two wins out of two, this a seven-wicket demolition of the Rounders at Lugogo.
Ziraba scored a match-best 47 runs and Denis Musali added 16 as the Wanderers took advantage of the Rounders 106/10 first innings total. Michael Kintu and Aggrey Kintu scored 33 and 21 runs respectively for the Rounders, who were tormented by Trevor Kapere and Trevor Bukenya, who took a combined seven wickets.
