UGANDA’S number one lady golfer Flavia Namakula was the best Ugandan player overall as the All Africa Challenge Trophy golf tournament ended on Thursday at the Muthaiga Golf Club in Nairobi.

South Africa who have dominated the event since its introduction in 1992 won the event for their 11TH AACT trophy.

The handicap +1 golfer finished 11th out of 48 players as Uganda registered a 6th overall placing out of 17 countries in the three-day biennial championships.

Namakula who opened with a promising 74 gross on day one, returned 83 on the second and finished the championship with an 83 for a total of 240 gross over the three days.

Katy Kabenge was Uganda’s other scoring player returning 84, 85 and 90 over three rounds respectively to finish 20th with Harriet Kitaka finishing 23rd overall.

The last day’s scores had Uganda dropping another place from 6th to 7th place as Egypt’s Scarello Soraya 88 and Scarello Donia’s 81 beat Uganda’s last day’s total score.

Uganda finished joint 7th with Botswana. Their final placing was a position better than their 2012 outing that had them finishing 8th in Botswana.
