Urban TV’S Daniel Mumbere and Mary Luswata have been nominated in the Radio and TV Awards in the category of Rising Television star.

Daniel Mumbere is battling it out with UBC’s Calvin,  Jaxta, Record TV’s  Daniel Esco , WBS’s Mc Kats,  NTV’s  Luzze Andrew – WBS.

Mary Luswata is up against Jackie Katusiime – WBS, Fifi – Bukedde, Lady Bezo-channel 48 in the female category of rising TV star.

It might not be news that Mary Luswata is the hottest thing on TV.

Her blunt approach when confronting the celebrities on her show Scoop on Scoop has garnered her legions of fans while Daniel Mumbere on the other side of the sea, is a vibrant and charismatic young presenter whose presence on Urban has beyond doubt, created a good impact on the credibility of the all-English TV Station.

The nominations were announced at a recently concluded press conference held at the Radio and TV awards offices in Buganda road.

According to the proprietor, Yusuf Lule, the awards are aimed to spearhead the elevation of radio and TV broadcasting in the nation.

“We might not be as strict as per the rules that govern journalism and broadcasting ethics in these initial nomination processes, but as time goes on, we are going to start considering all the rules in the nomination.

And as such, most of the popular programs might not make it to the nomination list.

But now, because most are oblivious, we are choosing to nominate them so that when they attend the function and are taken through the broadcasting ethics,, they will pick a leaf and therefore adjust their standards for the positivity of the industry.

Which is exactly the main goal of the awards” says Yusuf Lule.

The Radio and TV awards will take place on 27th June 2014 at Sheraton hotel.
