KAMPALA - In the somewhat exclusive, unique too, series where top Ugandan business souls host their friends to an ultra-exclusive single malt tasting dinner, it was time for one of the honchos to treat his friends to a dinner of a kind.

This time, it was the new Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) Managing Director, Nyimpini Mabunda who threw a dinner for his friends, business associates et al, at his plush residence in Naguru on Saturday evening.

Mr Mabunda, in his welcome note, effusively thanked everyone for honoring the invitation and showing up. “This event is not only to introduce the country’s top business leaderships to some of UBL’s exclusive portfolio, but also to provide an avenue for introductions, interaction and networking,” said, Mr Mabunda.

Notable figures in the crème de le crème audience included; businessman Amos Nzeyi, Vision group’s Robert Kabushenga, Dr Martin Aliker and his wife Camille, businessman Charlie Lubega, Amos Wekesa, Elvis Sekyanzi, and others.

With glasses of whiskey nestled in their hands, the businessmen, for the most part, laughed, networked, and seemingly looked to be enjoying every inch of the evening.

Later on, renowned Diageo whiskey ambassador from South Africa, Kagisho Mathibo, who is renowned to have introduced the likes of South African president, Jacob Zuma and many high profile personalities across the face of Africa to the art of appreciating whiskey, introduced the businessmen to different species of whiskey the way an expert would.

As they enjoyed a range of different meals, they threw swigs of whiskeys down their throats, escorting the food as the whiskey expert explained.

The menu included; pain Fried lobster, creamy pumpkin puree, Classic Vichyssois with mousse of Chicken, herb oil, Mango sorbet, and all this was washed down the throat by different brands of whiskey.

The whiskeys ranged from 12-year-old Caol ila, 16-year-old Lagavulin, 12-year-old Clynelish, 12-year-old Singleton, and 12-year-old Glenkinchie.

Thereafter, couples were handed bottles of whiskey where they would celebrate in unison as those that showed up alone were left to fork out a penny to get their own bottles. Regardless, it was a night of fun and networking.
