Stanley Nakhaima, a health worker attending to the baby boy with four extra limbs and two scrotums said the little boy was meant to be a Siamese twin.
He added that the child who did not form is now joined to the one which formed to the Genitalia.
The baby boy currently admitted at Mulago National referral hospital in 2C is healthy and feeding well.
This is the first such condition at Mulago, according to the hospital’s spokesperson Enock Kusasira.
‘‘We have been receiving cases of Siamese twins, some of whom have been successfully separated through surgery. We expect medics to provide a report on the baby’s condition in two days,” he added.
The baby was born in Bugiri to Margaret Awino and Boniface Okongo. Awino, 27, had a normal delivery from her home in Nabigingo village, Bugiri district with the help of her aunt.
Her husband, Boniface Okongo, a peasant farmer, said after his wife delivered the baby, he rushed her and child to Bugiri Hospital. They were later referred to Mulago Hospital.
“I was terrified when I realised that my wife had delivered an abnormal baby, but I had to be strong to support her during that critical moment,” said Okongo who named the baby Balungi.
