THE Charging Rhinos came into his game riding on the back of their high-profile 59-57 shock of the UCU Canons two weeks ago. 

Steven Omony and Falcons made sure there would be no new scalp. Omony grabbed a game-high 28 points and nine rebounds as the Falcons defeated the Rhinos 86-58 at the YMCA Sunday in the National Basketball League (NBL). 

The Falcons outscored their opponents in all four quarters, leading from wire-to-wire. 

Cyrus Kiviri and Peter Elungant added 22 and 11 points respectively for the Falcons, who won for the second time in as many games this season. 

The Rhinos were led by Rashid Male with 16 points but did not have any other player reach double digits. 

Elsewhere, Phillip Ameny, Paul Odong and Paul Mwaka sunk 19, 16 and 10 points respectively as Tiger Head Power overturned a 35-30 halftime deficit to defeat the Diamonds in the Sun. 

Frank Ikabert and Felix Olaba scored 16 and 15 points respectively for Diamond, who outscored Power 26-9 in the second quarter to threaten the unthinkable. But BernesAnkuda’s charges raised their intensity in the third quarter, winning 24-9 to take charge of the match for good. 

In the women’s NBL, Carol Nyafwono snatched 19 points and 10 rebounds and Rachael Nanyonga added 10 points as the Magic Stormers defeated A1 Challenge 57-48. Miriam Birungi and Barbara Okot scored 15 and 10 points respectively for A1, who lost their second game in three days and third overall to start the season. 

Meanwhile, Florence Nanyonga and Susan Amito scored 21 and 15 points respectively as the KIU Rangers beat the Nkumba Lady Marines 53-40. The Marines were led by Barbara Gimbo with 17 points.
