Jojo stuns favourite Kiggundu at Garuga

MOTOCROSS fans left Garuga Racing Track in Entebbe satisfied with the standard of riders and organisation Uganda Motocross Club put in place for the fourth round of the National Motocross Championship on Sunday.

In the MX1 open class Maxime Van Pee proved to be a class apart when he gave both top contenders Arthur Blick Jnr and Asaf Natan a head start of twenty seconds but still beat them in the final heat.

“The first two heats were too easy for me so I decided to give them a head start and give the fans value for their money,” Maxime told New Vision Sport after the race.

“Yes we all come here to win but the fans should be considered first that is why I had to wake them up,” he added.

In the MX2 category Wilson Jojo caused the upset of the day when he beat table leader Fatuh Kiggundu.

“I just decided to be crazy today and test my ability at optimum which worked for me and I think I will do the same next time,” Jojo stated.

In the 85cc category it was a mouth-watering tie as Alistair Blick was made to sweat to beat traditional rival Ali Omar on the day.

Omar won the first heat while Blick took the last two heats as after Omar crashed twice on the newly redesigned track.

“It was a bad day for me but let’s wait and see the next event. I will try my best to make them happy,” Omar stated.

In the 65cc Zimbabwean Champion Kuda Mhene who competed as a guest rider gave the fans value for their money as he proved to be too good for Ben Nsumba and Waleed Omar.

Uganda’s champion Fortune Ssentamu raced while still carrying an injury and could not power his bike to his usual lofty standards.
