A total of 20 residents are still detained at Kira town council police station pending investigations into crimes of inciting violence.

They were arrested on Wednesday when police was engaged in running battles with the Kasokoso residents over the arrested colleague.

 According to Kira town council police station boss, Peter Nkulega, the suspects were arrested after they were found burning used vehicle tyres in the roads blocking the road users.

“This group has been organizing the residents to block the roads and throwing stones at Police,” Nkulega said.
 

Nkulega on Thursday told the New Vision that the suspects were still in police custody pending investigations in the matter.
 

He added that they would be arraigned before to court on Monday next week.

He added that the four residents who sustained injuries during a half day riot, including a private UPDF officer, had received treatment and were in stable condition.
 

The officer and three others who included Charles Yiga, 32, Topisita Ayo, 28 and Allen Kirabo, 24, all sustained injuries on their heads, hands and legs.
 

Violence broke out Wednesday morning at Kasokoso Kiganda zone Kireka in Wakiso district after residents engaged the Police in running battles protesting the arrest of one of their colleague.
 

The arrested is Musa Sekigudde vice-chairperson in charge of security in Kasokoso Kiganda Tenants committee.
