STEPHEN Kiprotich was thrilled on learning that steeplechase legend Ezekiel Kemboi would attend the Nile Special USPA Gala.

Besides the urge of being in the company of a fellow superstar, world and Olympic marathon gold medalist Kiprotich also can’t wait to have a jig with the Kenyan runner.

“Kemboi is a good dancer. I only wish that USPA gives me some dance time on the floor with him,” said Kiprotich.

Whenever he wins, Kemboi further excites the crowds with what has now become his trademark dance.

Kiprotich is also a winner when it comes to Congolese dance strokes.

But maybe Kiprotich need not worry as there will be a dance session after the gala.

Former sportsman of the year Charlie Lubega, proprietor of Uganda’s top night club - Guvnor, has offered USPA the swanky dance facility after the awards ceremony.

Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga will preside over the sh130m gala.

“She has already confirmed,” said USPA vice president Sabiiti Muwanga.

The scribes’ body and its sponsors Nile Breweries have in another effort to give the gala a touch of international class also invited foreign journalists.

Kiprotich, basketball and netball queen Peace Proscovia and the motor rally crew of Jas Mangat and Gihan da Silva are the contestants for the top award.

Kiprotich is the reigning winner.
