Atleast 51 persons were on Easter Sunday involved in accidents and are currently admitted at the Mulago Hospital.

Eleven of these were involved in boda boda related accidents and are admitted in the hospital’s emergency casualty ward. The rest were involved in assault, burns and alcohol related accidents.

Enock Kusasira, the hospital’s public relations officer, said during festive seasons like Easter, the number of casualties admitted at the hospital tends to increase.

Rashid Kimera, who was involved in a car accident on Good Friday, said he was from visiting his wife in Wakiso district when a taxi he was travelling in was involved in an accident.

“I was going to Busunju in Mityana district. But all the things I had have been taken. I had a Samsung Galaxy Touch Screen and another Nokia phone, all have been taken, plus my wallet,” he said.

The 29-year-old said he has three children and is married to Shaluwa Tumwebaze.
