Opposition Party DP will this week meet to decide the fate of embattled deputy Lord Mayor, Sulaiman Kidandala, after leaked Police tapes revealed him making unsavory remarks about his boss.

“I have informed members of the National Executive Committee (NEC). We shall meet sometime this week to decide on his fate,” party secretary general, Mathias Nsubuga told New Vision.

The recordings which first appeared on social media before being picked by some sections of the media indicted that the deputy Lord Mayor met the Police Chief Kale Kayihura to discuss the fate of the mayor at City hall.

In the recording, Kidandala is heard discussing the Lord Mayor Lukwago’s relationship with former FDC president Dr. Kiiza Besigye.  He also appears to be suggesting to the IGP that the Lord Mayor be ousted to avoid state attention. Kidandala has since owned up to the recordings but says some sections of the recording was distorted.

Nsubuga said the party was outraged by the leaks but they won’t rush into deciding the deputy Lord Mayor’s fate until they have heard his side of the story.

The development comes barely a week after impeached Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago, said he had summoned Kidandala to explain why he secretly met the Inspector General of Police, Kale Kayihura.

When contacted about the matter, Kidandala, however, said he had not received any summons from the party’s disciplinary organ.

He however, said he would oblige with party’s rules and appear before the disciplinary committee if he receives the summons. “I am a member of DP and will always be bound by its rules,” he said, adding that he has no fear appearing before the party’s disciplinary committee because he has done no wrong.
