Doctor charged with manslaughter

A doctor linked to the death of a woman has been charged with two counts and remanded to Luzira prison till April 16.

The doctor allegedly helped the woman carry out an abortion but she eventually died in the process .

Dr Moses Muhwezi attached to Memory clinic at Mulago is facing two counts of manslaughter and killing an unborn baby.

Dr Muhwezi on Wednesday appeared before Grade One Magistrate at Buganda Road court, Simon Kintu, but was refused to enter a plea.

Prosecution alleges that on January, 17 2014,  Dr Muhwezi, in the process of helping Mercy Ampaire abort,  prevented a child from being born alive.
