The Court of Appeal has ordered all courts from hearing cases relating to Erias Lukwago’s appeal against his removal from office, until the main case is disposed of.

KAMPALA - The Court of Appeal has ordered all courts from hearing cases relating to Erias Lukwago’s appeal against his removal from office, until the main case is disposed of.

In a ruling by the Acting Deputy Chief Justice, Justice Steven Kavuma on Monday, the judge also ordered Lukwago to refrain from performing functions of the office of Lord Mayor of Kampala until his case is settled by the High Court.

“An interim order doth issue staying all proceedings in the High Court arising from the above orders or from any application under Miscellaneous Cause No.362 of 2013 until hearing and determination of the main Application,” states the ruling.

The Court of Appeal ruling came just hours after Lukwago returned to office at City Hall on Monday morning amid fanfare.

Earlier in the morning, Lukwago arrived to City Hall accompanied by his deputy Sulaiman Kidandala, Medard Lubega Sseggona, Allan Ssewanyana among others.
