URA operatives trained in fraud management

The ten operatives selected from URA’s internal audit and compliance department were passed out on Friday at the Junior staff college where they have been under going a three weeks training course.

 

Lt. Col. Charles Byaruhanga, the commandant of the Junior staff college said course intake 4 of the year 2013/2014 commenced on March 10th, and ended successfully. 

 

UPDF trained the operatives.

 

“This course is in line with the constitutional provisions, where the military may provide military training to civil authority and the objective of this course was to equip participants with basic military skills and knowledge to enable them effectively and efficiently execute their responsibilities in the process of their work,” Lt. Col. Byaruhanga said. 

 

He added that URA operatives were taken through a carefully selected course package to suit its objectives and were trained in political education, foot drill, criminal investigations, weapon training, international intelligence and self defense. 

 

And during the pass out, the officers passed out showcased skills in dismantling and assembling a gun, martial arts and displays in self-defense among others. 

 

Joseph Okecho, URA’s Assistant Commissioner Internal Audit said the course helps their operatives to up skill and improve on their competence on duty.  

 

He added that his department of Internal Audit and compliance is responsible for integrity and building the culture in URA in terms of anti fraud and fraud management. 

 

He commended the operatives for the high level of discipline they showcased during the training and completed it successfully.  

All trainees received certificates after the course.
