Kamuli LCV chairperson Salaam Musumba has rallied Ugandans to turn up for the ID mass enrollment exercise that starts on April 14.

Speaking at a sensitization workshop organized by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Gen. Aronda Nyakairima in Jinja on Wednesday, Musumba said that acquiring an Identity Card would add value to the uniqueness of being a Ugandan.

While addressing Busoga leaders, Aronda, who is also the national coordinator of the national ID project, said that acquiring social services in the country would need the prerequisite of an Identity Card.

Pamela Ankunda, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, said that Aronda gave a timeline of 2017 when access to social services like education, health will not be possible to citizens without any proof of National Identification.

“Aronda described the Identity Card project as a timely intervention in the nation’s destiny and asked the leaders to ensure that all 16-year old turn up for the Mass Enrolment Exercise scheduled to start on April 14, 2014,” Ankunda said.

Apart from local political leaders from Busoga, the meeting was attended by security chiefs, religious leaders and cultural leaders.
