THE death toll in the Lake Albert boat accident has now risen to 108 with the hope of finding any survivors now lost.

On Monday 82 bodies were discovered floating on the waters at the shore in Kitebere where the accident happened on Saturday morning.

On Sunday 6 bodies were retrieved on top of the 19 that were retrieved on Saturday. Most of the accident victims were children.

The bodies have already been transported by water to Ntoroko health centre where the first bodies were taken.

We found bodies floating on the water surface and on retrieving them we counted 82 bodies, said Ojokuna.

The number of survivors still stands at 45 with hope for any survivors increasingly fading away.

Ojokuna said that it is still difficult to estimate the exact number of people who were on board.

On Saturday morning a boat carrying Congolese refuges who were escaping from Kyangwali refugee settlement camp capsized near Kitebere landing site in Ndaiga sub county Kibaale district.

The refuges boarded the boat at Senjojo landing site in Kyangwali sub county Hoima district on their way to Ntoroko where they were supposed to pick vehicles on their way to return to the Democratic Republic of Congo where they feel is now secure.
