FORMER National Rally Champion (NRC) Ronald Ssebuguzi won the Super Special Stage at the agricultural show ground in Jinja to maintain the Source of the Nile Rally title momentum.

The Crew of Ssebuguzi and Cederic Buzabo in Mistibish Evo9 posted a time of five minutes and thirty one seconds beating traditional rival and pre-event favourite Duncan Mubiru that finished fifth.

“We were just more focused and we hope our machine won’t let us down on Sunday which is day two of the event.” Ssebuguzi told New Vision Sport.

Omar Mayanja in a Mitsubishi Evo 5 and Peter Kakaire in Subaru N10 finished second and third while John Consta in a Subaru N10 finished fourth.

The crew of Wycliff Bukenya and George Ssemakula finished last after they had two aborted runs and also suffered broken supension.

Other top favourite Fred Wapamba and the OiLibya sponsored crew of Dr. Ashraf Ahmed and Peter Stone in a Subaru N8 finished eleventh and twelfth respectively in the tricky Super Special stage that saw the only female driver Irene Leila Blick in a Toyota Alex finishing in nineteenth position.

By press time the drivers were battling in the third section of the rally on the second day but both Wycliff Bukenya and Duncan Mubiru were reportedly suffering mechanical problems according to Clerk of the Course Jeff Kabagambe.
