Ssempebwa targeting strong Ivory Coast finish

EASTERN Motor Club rally driver Hajji Abdu Ssempebwa is one of Uganda's representatives in this weekend's African Rally Championship race in the Ivory Coast this weekend.

The Jinja based rally driver in the Subaru Impreza N4 who has featured in the Rwanda KCB Mountain Gorilla rally challenge in the last two years where he finished 4th overall in last year's event, hopes to use his past experience to challenge in this weekend's race.

''I want to use Charles Muhangi's experience to challenge the top African rally drivers so that I can have a cool finish” said Ssempebwa who will have Francis Wamala as his navigator.

After the Ivory Coast challenge, Ssempebwa will be leading Eastern Motor Club drivers in the 4th edition of the Source of the Nile Motor rally set for Jinja the following weekend.

After that Ssempebwa plans to tackle a series of ARC races in South Africa, Zambia, Tanzania, Rwanda and Kenya.

Other Ugandan entrants for the Ivory Coast race include veteran Charles Muhangi, Shafik Ssemujju and Jas Mangat who finished 2nd in last year’s ARC championship.
