TOP American tour operators will in November converge in Uganda for the Africa Travel Association (ATA) meeting that will open up new business and marketing opportunities.

State minister for tourism Agnes Akiror this morning disclosed on the sidelines of the ITB Berlin tourism fair that Uganda will in full gear promote and organise many tourism activites including birding expedition, Nile expedition and culture showcasing.

The occasion presents another grand marketing opportunity for a country currently revamping its tourism through marketing backed by the promise of new resource openings.

"It is an opportunity to be in the limelight, there will be a lot of trickledown effect for transporters, food, crafts, hoteliers, it has already been launched in New York," said Akiror.

ATA's annual events in Africa provides a networking, learning and agenda-shaping platform for the most diverse group of tourism industry stakeholders of any travel industry event on the continent.

During the conference, Uganda as host will also have the opportunity to showcase the newest products and services among them the virgin Kidepo National Park named the third best travel spot in 2013.
