A total of 52 out of 54 law graduates were Friday sworn in as advocates of the courts of judicature at a brief function presided over by the High Court Registrar, Isaac Muwata.

Muwata, who represented the Chief Registrar, Asaph Ntengye Ruhinda, congratulated the advocates upon joining the legal fraternity and wished them enjoyable legal practice.

Ruhinda and Margaret Mutonyi, who have hitherto been the Acting Chief Registrar and Inspector of Courts, respectively, were recently appointed judges of the High Court.

They are only awaiting being vetted by Parliament and being told to hand over to their successors.

However, Muwata blamed the two male graduates who missed being enrolled for taking it for granted that by merely putting on their robes and appearing at the enrolment function, that they would be enrolled.

The duo had reportedly not registered ahead of the function.

“You have missed being enrolled. I think you never cared to register for the function or that you were late,” he told the pleading graduates.

“How can we be sure that you are the ones that are supposed to be enrolled despite your appearing in the robes of a law graduate?

“Nonetheless, do not worry but, you should wait for the next enrolment. But, you should make sure you first register on time before you can come to be enrolled,” he advised them.

The Registrar told the two men that he had enrolled only those that had registered with the High Court Chief Registrar’s office for this function.
