Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC) has asked the government to urgently re-consider the Anti-pornography law to ensure that any ambiguities are rectified.

Addressing Journalist at the Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC) head offices in Kampala, the chairman UHRC Med S K Kaggwa said there are so many uncertainties in the law that government should consider. There is need to strengthen the existing laws as opposed to enacting new ones.

"We are condemning the recent reports of beating and stripping women for purportedly wearing miniskirts, dresses and trousers arising out of the recent enactment of the Anti-pornography law.

Some members of the public are violating the fundamental rights of victims and pose a serious threat to the sanctity of human dignity; violates the right of privacy and the right of women to be protected against violation," he explained.
