St. Mary’s College Kisubi (SMACK) games teacher Ronald Mutebi has cautioned his charges against complacency in their away fixture against King’s College Budo Sunday.

Mutebi told the boys that the 38-3 win over Makerere College School should not excite them because, in Budo, they will meet a solid opponent who has an experienced tactician.

“We have a relatively young but very experienced team. Our pack has been together for two years and this will be our main weapon against our opponents but that doesn’t mean that we underrate Budo,” Mutebi said.

“Budo has improved a lot and holding Namilyango at home sent a message to us that we must take them serious,” he added.

He said SMACK will rely on inspirational outside centre and team captain Ronald Ojok plus winger Simon Ddungu. The latter currently tops the scoreboard with three tries he scored in the first game against Makerere College.

Meanwhile, referees who officiate the schools rugby league have been urged to observe safety of players before and during any game effective this weekend.

Uganda Rugby Union (URU) secretary Michael Wandera and referee coach Jacko Chagga issued the directive to referees after watching last weekend’s game between Namilyango and Budo at Namilyango where some ‘safety issues’ were neglected.

During the game the goal posts did not have any padding thereby exposing the players to danger.
