With the battle ground set, motocross riders renew their rivalry tomorrow on the redesigned Uganda Motorsport Arena (UMA) track in Busiika in the opening round of the Mountain Dew national Motocross challenge.

Asaf Natan and Arthur Blick Jr are out to upset young star and crowd darling Maxime Van Pee. Van Pee arrived in the country on Wednesday night from Europe spitting fire in the MX1 category.

However, the clash of the titans could be in the 85cc category between the Blick and Omar family. Ali Omar Yasser is not ready to start the season on a losing side.

He is determined to give defending champion Alistair Blick a hard time having now mastered his new KTM 2014 model bike. “It is going to be a tight race in these categories since all riders are aggressive and determined to start the season on the winning side,” Blick Jr stated.

Wazir Omar, Paddy Blick and Stave Orland, Aviv Orland and John Shier are the other unpredictable riders that have always upset the top two rivals Omar and Alistair in the 85cc class.

In the 65cc class, favourite and defending champion Fortune Ssentamu will face a stiff challenge from Ben Nsumba, who attended motocross lessons in an academy in Zimbabwe last year and will unleash all he learnt on a 2014 Yamaha bike.

Waleed Omar, Sharif Nansukusa and Peter Simon Kabubi are the challengers. At the same time, Isabella Blick, Imran Nkurunziza, Habibu Kiggundu, Rayvon Kikago and Ashraf Jr. are set to battle it out in 50cc category.

The competition is co- sponsored by Mountain Dew, Total Uganda, IAA/Resolution Health, UAP Insurance, Fotogenix and the Safe Solutions firm. UAP injected $10,000 (sh24.5m) worth of insurance sponsorship.
