The Police have arrested four officers attached to Kajjansi Police Station in connection to the murder of officer cadet, Joseph Bigirwa, who was shot dead by robbers.

The area Police Commander, Edson Muganzi, OC CID,OC operation and the officer who was on duty the day thugs shot Bigirwa have been arrested.

Kampala Metropoltian Police Commander, Felix Kaweesi on Tuesday explained that when the late Bigirwa fired a bullet in the air during the robbery, police officers at the station did not come to his rescue. “If they had deployed immediately they heard the shoot, he would not have died. So failure to respond, they are going to be punished,” he said.

“I have taken action against those officers because it was irresponsible on their side, when the late officer fired in the air, they would have deployed immediately. In security we do not deal with laziness. If they can’t handle let them give us back our uniforms and go plant sweet potatoes. Disciplinary measures have to be taken,” Kaweesi said.

Bigirwa becomes the second police officer to be killed in the line of duty.  PPC Nelson Tugume was killed while on duty at Nalumunye near Jomayi in Wakiso district, where he had gone for an operation to recover a gun from thugs terrorizing the area.
