The Katikkiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga is determined to use all avenues including sports to promote unity, environmental protection and development in the kingdom and in Uganda in general.

It is from this background that Mayiga has accepted to officiate at the opening of the 2014 Mountain Dew National Motocross Challenge at the Uganda Motorsport Arena Busiika on Sunday.

According to Arthur Blick Jnr, the organiser of the event, the Katikkiro will also make use of the crowd expected to turn up for the event to launch the Bulungi Bwansi project in the area.

“It is true and I am much humbled with the confirmation from the office of the Katikkiro that he accepted to officiate at our function as he also launches the Bulungi Bwansi’ programme in that area,” Blick explained.

He added that security teams that include Police, anti-terrorism and army are already at the ground laying strategies of how to handle the big crowd expected.

Maxime Van Pee, Asaf Natan and Arthur Blick Jnr will battle for an early lead in the MX1 category for the national championship while the battle between the Omar and Blick family is set to thrill fans more in the 65cc and 85cc categories.

The event is supported by Mountain Dew, Total Uganda, IAA/Resolution Health, UAP Insurance, Fotogenix and Safe Solutions.
