Uganda’s number one squash player Michael Kawooya will go for training in Denmark ahead of the Commonwealth Games.

Uganda’s number one squash player Michael Kawooya will go for training in Denmark ahead of the Commonwealth Games.

The Games which will take place in Glasgow, Scotland, are slated to run from July 23 until August 3.

Kawooya’s one-month training will take place at the Hammerum sports skills training centre starting next month.

According to the Kampala-based player, it will be an intensive programme, where emphasis will be placed on playing skills as a coaching component.

“This training will go a long way in preparing me for the upcoming Commonwealth Games,” Kawooya said.

Last year, the experienced player competed in several international tournaments.

He won the Rwanda International tournament before he finished 5th out of 16 entrants in the men’s elite draw during the White Nights Open in Russia.

Kawooya finished 8th out of 16 players at the Auto-Quip Prince Grand Prix tournament in South Africa.He went on to win the Nakuru Open International tournament.

Later, the squash player went to Tanzania for the Uhuru Open where he lost in the third round of the main draw.
