Civil servants to be paid on February 15

Thousands of civil servants who have not yet received their January salaries are expected to start getting paid beginning from February 15.

Thousands of civil servants who have not yet received their January salaries are expected to start getting paid beginning from February 15. 

A source in the in the Ministry of Public Service said the delays had been caused by changes in the payroll, but there was hopeful that the issue would be sorted out before the end of the week. 

“There are some system issues between the ministry of Public service and Ministry of Finance which are being worked out. But we hope that this will have been sorted out by Feb 15,” the source who preferred anonymity said. 

Earlier, Public Service spokesperson Jonas Tumwine, confirmed that a number civil servants including himself had not yet been paid. 

Some of the departments that are yet to be paid include Uganda National Examination Board, some sections of Uganda Police and teachers.
