When DMark Kobs claimed the rugby super league last weekend after an emphatic win over Eazy money Rhinos, the battle was in fact far from over.

Going into this weekend’s fixture against former serial champions MTN Heathens, there was a lot at stake. First it was also a contest for the Lions Cup where the two top teams with the highest scores contest to see who comes out on top.

Kobs had beaten Heathens at home 19-11 and the former defending champions were looking to salvage pride and not get beaten home, plus win the Lions Cup. But that was not to happen!

Dmark Kobs are the reigning rugby super league champions and Lions Cup champions having thrashed Heathens home and away.

The highly anticipated game lived up to its billing with the first half ending at 8-6 in favour of Kobs. And with just two tries in either half; Ronald Musajja touching down for Kobs early in the first half and Asuman Mugerwa touching down for Heathens in the second half, the rest of the counter was blood and sweat!

Joseph Aredo for Kobs, also man of the match, took the day for Kobs having come on top of his opponent kicker, Philip Wokorach who fell short of taking the day for Heathens with a failed penalty that dipped just inches short of the posts in the last minute of the game.

The game ended 14-13 in favour of Kobs.
