Govt officials tour Kidepo National Park

Officials from different government entities have started a three day tour of Kidepo Valley national park in Kabong district - Karamoja region in north eastern Uganda.

Officials from different government entities have started a three day tour of  Kidepo Valley national park in Kabong district - Karamoja region in north eastern Uganda.


The officials are from the office of the President, the Prime Minister, KCCA, Tourism, Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP), Media centre, Ministry of Education, Foreign affairs, Police, Bank of Uganda and Public service.

The tour that started on Wednesday is expected to end on Friday.

John Oyambi the principal national officer from the office of the Prime Minister says the trip is aimed at enhancing Government departments to understand the wildlife industry and also appreciate the culture of the Iki who are among the minority people in Uganda and the Karamojong culture.

The trip is organised by Uganda wildlife Authority, under the ministry of information and national guidance in the office of the prime minister.

"This trip is mainly to promote tourism in Uganda such that we get more tourists," he said.

Linda Nabusayi the deputy secretary to the president said this is part of government’s efforts to see that tourism is promoted in Uganda since it brings in a lot of income.

She advised all the officials to observe everything such that they market the game park, which is expected to bring in more tourists in Uganda.
