A 47-year-old inmate in Gulu Central Prisons has scored aggregate 10 in last year’s Primary Leaving Examinations.
Martin Atube, got D2s in English, SST and Science and a Credit 4 in Mathematics.
Atube was committed to prison by the High Court over murder charges.
He did a carpentry course in Atiak Technical School in Amuru district in 1987 after he first sat for PLE in Pamin-Yai Primary School in Nwoya district in 1984.
Atube, a father of nine children, has a dream of becoming an architect.
He said in 1985, he had been admitted to S1 at Pope Paul IV Anaka Senior Secondary School in Nwoya but he failed to take it up because he lacked of school fees.
“I then decided to join Atiak Technical School from where I got a certificate in carpentry and joinery. Now, I hope to pursue a course and become a professional builder, but since there is no technical school inside the prisons, I will register for secondary school education. Though we have been told that Government is starting it here this term,” Atube said.
