Day Two of the Kampala auditions for the Coca-Cola Rated Next Sing It competition turned out to be one hell of a long day, with just about every hopeful being a joker of some sort.

From squeaky singers down to those who just clown about or just stand there before the judges and mumble to themselves, Day Two had them all.

Which wouldn’t be as surprising, seeing as all who auditioned on Saturday were the latecomers from Friday’s over 800 hopefuls, who didn’t audition because it got dark.

And telling from previous patterns, those with what it really takes have usually shown up earliest, burning to prove it to the judges – and they did prove it on Day One Friday, with just about every one of the first 50 making it through.

Saturday had judges Siima Sabiti, Sharpe Ssewali and Benon Mugumbya show just about everyone the exit within the first two seconds of singing.

With over 500 hopefuls trying out their luck at winning the staked sh50m and a recording contract from Swangz Avenue, only 22 made it to Day Three on Sunday.

These join Day One’s 56 to make the 78 who will be screened on Day Three Sunday to get the cream that will represent Kampala at another level, when all who made it from the different regions face off to make the Top 30.

Of course the show hasn't been without its drama, as you would expect. There have been those rib-cracking moments of a contestant suddenly bursting into high-gear singing tempo and getting the judges to duck for safety.

Then there have been moments of chaps high on whatever concoctions, facing the opposite side from the judges.

We also had one who showed up with a guitar, but the chap didn’t strum a single string of the darn thing. Why the hell did he carry it?

Let’s wait and see what happens today -- Day Three. But trust you me, it’s comedy, almost not singing.

Tune in to Urban TV or TV West on Sunday February 02, to catch the fun of what happened when the search team for this second season of the singing contest went to Mbarara.
