Sri-Lanka First Lady visits

The First Lady of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri-Lanka, Shiranthi Wickramasinghe Rajapaksa is in Uganda for a four-day official visit.

The First Lady of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri-Lanka, Shiranthi Wickramasinghe Rajapaksa is in Uganda for a four-day official visit.

Shiranthi Rajapaksa who is in Uganda on the invitation of the First Lady of Uganda Janet Museveni was welcomed on arrival by the Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development Mary Karooro Okurut.

Also at the airport to receive the visiting First Lady was Uganda's High Commissioner to Sri-Lanka and India, Elizabeth Paula Napeyok and the High Commissioner of Sri-Lanka to Uganda Velupillai Kananathan

The Sri Lanka First Lady is accompanied to Uganda by a delegation of 18 people that includes the Director General Africa Division in Sri- Lanka's Ministry of External Affairs Aruni Ranaraja.

In Uganda, Shiranthi Rajapaksa together with her host Mrs Janet Museveni will visit Masuliita children's Home in Wakiso District today to lay a foundation stone and unveil the Plan for the construction of Masuliita Vocational Training Institute.

She will also inspect a medical camp by a team from Sri Lanka for the children and community of Masuliita.
