WEATHERHEAD Hockey Club skipper Aisha Kagere believes her team has what it takes to qualify for the Africa Cup of Club Championships final.

Uganda’s only surviving club will take on Strathmore from Kenya in the women’s semifinal game at Lugogo today.

Another Kenyan side and defending champions Orange Telecom, will face Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) in the other game of the last four stage.

Weatherhead entered the event with Kampala Club that did not go past the group stage.

Uganda also had Wanainchi and Kampala Club in the men’s event.

But the two teams also failed to move from the group series.

The country is now looking to Weatherhead for success in the competition, coming to Kampala for the first time.

Weatherhead’s Kagere said her team is ready to go all the away and make the country proud.

“It’s likely to be a very tough game but we plan to fight on until the last minute,” Kagere said after a training session.

“We have a number of good players,” the captain added.

To qualify for the semisfinals, Weatherhead beat Twende of Tanzania 1-0 after a 6-0 defeat against Orange Telecom to finish second with 3 points in pool A.

Orange Telecom led the group with 6 points.

Weatherhead’s rivals Strathmore walloped Kampala 12-0 and later beat GRA 2-1 to lead pool B with 6 points. GRA were second in this category.

The two top teams in each pool advanced to the semifinals.
