Government has halted the registration of teachers pending the completion of the migration of the Ministry of Education and Sports from Uganda Development House to Legacy towers, where they would be renting.

The Ministry of Education vacated Development House to give way for Parliament to redevelop the structures into offices for MPs.
“Ministry Of Education and Sports would like to inform the public that Teacher registration which was taking place at both Embassy and Development house has been temporarily halted,” Patrick Muinda, the Commissioner for Communication said in a statement that the ministry issued Thursday.

Parliament owns Development House and the Ministry of Education has occupied the building for over 10 years.

“The temporary halt is due to the fact that all Departments currently housed at Development house are shifting to Legacy Towers, Plot 5, Kyadondo Road, Nakasero, Kampala Uganda,” he added.

Muinda said that the registration of teachers would within two weeks from (13th -27th January 2014).
The registration is compulsory for teachers to execute their duties in both private and government schools.
