Minister Madada mobilises for Kabaka's Bugerere tour

The minister for the elderly and disabled, Suleiman Madada has assured the Buganda kingdom that the planned Kabaka’s visit to Bugerere will be successful with no interruptions.

Speaking to The New Vision, Madada said, “As leaders in the area, we have already started mobilising the people of Bugerere to prepare for the Kabaka’s visit,” Madada said.

Madada dismissed media reports that Captain Baker Kimeze, the cultural leader of the Banyala, has given conditions of official writing to allow the Kabaka visit.

“When I heard the reports, I called captain Kimeze and he denied ever giving any conditions. Captain Kimeze has no problem with the Kabaka’s visit, “Madada explained.

There have been reports attributed to James Bululi Rwebikire, the spokesperson of the Banyala cultural group that Mengo should write to Captain Kimeze for the Kabaka to get permission to go to the area.

The minister said after the agreement that was signed between the President and the Kabaka of Buganda, there would be no more inconveniences to the Kabaka’s visits within his kingdom.

Madada, the Bbaale County MP, said he is not only mobilising people to prepare for the Kabaka’s visit but will also be there to welcome the Kabaka when he goes to Kayunga.

The Katikkiro, Charles Peter Mayiga, broke the news of Kabaka’s tour during a mass at Lubaga cathedral. 

Mayiga said during the visit, the Kabaka would interact with his subjects in addition to visiting various sub-ethnic groups, including the Banyala.

Preparations in Kayunga are already in high gear ahead of Kabaka’s visit scheduled to take place on January 27.

There were unprecedented riots in 2009 when government blocked the Kabaka’s visit to Kayunga after Captain Baker Kimeze protested the visit.
