Museveni reiterates his stance on the anti-gay Bill

PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has reiterated his position on the anti-gay Bill saying he will first study it and present it to the NRM Caucus to map out the way forward.

“I like thinking before acting. It is not a simple matter to rush into. If the MPs bring the Bill to me, I will first analyse it, take it to the NRM Caucus and see how to handle it”, he said.

The President, who was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Janet Museveni, was on Saturday the chief guest at the wedding of Mr. Sam Byamukama and Ms. Agnes Akankwasa at Kamuronko Church of Uganda in Ndorwa East Constituency, Kabale district in South Western Uganda.

The newlywed couple exchanged their matrimonial vows before Bishop Emeritus Rt. Rev. Enock Kayeeye from North Kivu Diocese in neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the Bishop of Kigezi Diocese the Rt. Rev. George Katwesigye.

The President praised the bride, Ms. Agnes Akankwasa an aide in State House, for being disciplined and hard-working. He advised the couple to always put God first in everything they do.

He also commended the Bakiga for being hard-working especially in growing plenty of tea, apples and irish-potatoes, among other products, which earn them good household income. He donated Shs.20 million towards the renovation of Kamuronko Church of Uganda.

Bishop Emeritus Enock Kayeeye, lauded President Museveni for being a peace maker not only in Uganda but also in the Great Lakes Region.

“With President Museveni, Uganda is definitely going to the right direction”, he noted.

The Bishop also advised the newlywed couple, Sam and Agnes Byamukama, to always be faithful and loving to each other and remain role models.

The Minister of State for East African Affairs, Mr. Shem Bageine, MPs and Kabale district leaders, among other dignitaries, attended the wedding ceremony.
