VISION Group CEO Robert Kabushenga is happy with his appointment to the Buganda Sports Fund and the Kabaka Birthday Marathon Committees.

Speaking to the Vision Group in an end of year meeting, Kabushenga with a lot of excitement said that, “many people want to work for Kabaka but they cannot, even if they want to. Who am I not to accept the appointment?”

Kabushenga’s appointment has come few days after Vision Group successfully spearheaded a cash-prize drive that generated a total of sh103m in reward for Ugandan Olympic and World Marathon champion Stephen Kiprotich.

The contribution from different corporate companies in Kampala was handed over to Kiprotich at the Vision Group headquarters on December 12.

Prior to the campaign for Kiprotich, Kabushenga through the Uganda Cranes Initiative had mobilised different companies and yielded a colossal sum of money to fund the national football team’s campaign in their 2014 Africa Nations and World Cup qualifiers.

Kabushenga will work on the Buganda Sports Fund Committee with Samuel Ssejjaka (vice chairman), Rehmah Kasule (secretary), members Cedric Babu, Anthony Wamala, A.K Ssebaale and Florence Luwedde.

A.K Ssebaale will chair Buganda General Sports Council while former USPA chairman Patrick Luwandagga is in charge of publicity.

Kabushenga, a keen runner himself is also on the Kabaka Birthday Marathon Committee with Steven Kato, Aiden Mutebi and 1996 Atlanta Olympic Bronze and 1997 Athens World Championships silver medallist Davis Kamoga among others.

Former FUFA president and St Mary’s Kitende secondary school proprietor Lawrence Mulindwa heads the football committee. He will be deputised by former SC Villa player and administrator William Nkemba and Ahmed Mandela as the treasurer.
