Gayaza High School has been selected by Microsoft Corporation as an international model technology school.

The achievement means that Gayaza, an all-girls boarding school, joins the list of 80 outstanding Microsoft mentor schools in the world.

“We were identified because of our e-learning education application, a teaching platform where we upload classroom content on a website and can be accessed by anybody who would like to know what we teach at the school,” said Ronald Ddungu, the deputy head teacher of Gayaza High School.

Five schools were selected from Africa. Gayaza represented Uganda, while other schools were from Egypt, Mauritius, Kenya and South Africa. Agha-Khan School was selected in Kenya.

According to Ddungu, the mentor status means that Microsoft will partner with Gayaza in order to engage other educators in the country in technological-related teaching.
