Government is to construct two warehouses with the capacity to handle 100,000 metric tonnes of produce.

This is part of a strategic plan geared towards improving the agricultural storage infrastructure, the minister of trade, industry and cooperatives Amelia Kyambadde said.

The minister is optimistic that the facilities to be built over the next five years, will greatly improve post-harvest handling of agricultural produce and reduce losses by farmers.

Kyambadde was commissioning grain processing equipment at the Upland Rice Millers in Jinja on Monday.
She noted that quality assurance was one of the major challenges in agri-business.
