Kadaga meets Danish counterpart

The Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga, has called upon the Danish Government to help Uganda increase its investments.   

She made the call at a meeting with her Danish counterpart, Mogens Lykketoft, during her visit at the Danish parliament this week.

Kadaga assured the Danish Speaker that with a vibrant private sector, Ugandans will be able to get employment.

Kadaga hailed the partnership between Denmark and Uganda especially in the local communities which she believes would help Ugandans adopt the good cooperative system in Denmark to boost production, marketing and investment.

“This country is very strong on cooperatives. I think that is an area you could help us with because it has helped you with production and marketing,” she said.

Mogens Lykketoft, the Danish Speaker expressed fears of some African countries not letting development reach the poor people in the rural areas.

Kadaga said that with a well educated population, Africans can be able to look at opportunities and that Governments need to give more incentives to the people.

She also observed the need to put in place structures that will assist the ordinary persons make use of the availed opportunities.
