Senior Four candidates begin writing their national exams on Monday.

A total of 295,494 candidates are expected to sit for the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) exams this year, an increase by 26,712 from last year's 268,782 candidates.

The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) executive secretary Prof Mathew Bukenya warned parents, candidates and school heads against cheating exams, saying tighter controls have been put in place to curb the vice.

At least 1,013 scouts  and undercover operatives have been deployed.
