The production was dubbed THE AWAKENING, from the creators of Broken Voices of the Revolution and Bitter Sweet. It was the Lantern Meet of Poets in a recital to review our social pulse, a tapestry of consciousness.

The National Theatre was filled with a horde of poets and performers. Daniel Omara, a celebrated comedian, opened up the shows (they were two shows; Friday and Saturday)

He literally pulled away the curtain for the poets and one by one, they recited. First up was Mujuni Carlton with They asked me to write.

Then Barbra Namuli followed with Reason, while Archibald Agaba performed Some Day.  Zakaria Tiberindwa’s 27 left everyone wanting more; Remmy Bagenda performed Sleeping In Uganda, and Solomon Manzi did I Will Not Go Home Till Am Drunk.”

There were many other poets including Jason Ntaro, Pascal Olupot, Daniel Nuwamanya, Mutesi Latifah, Claria Asiimwe, Laura Byaruhanga, Persis Babirye, Juliet Kaboneire, Donald Massa and many more. Upcoming hip hop artist, Benezeri, was a guest performer.
