IT was a day of celebration at Rubaga Cathedral, as priests and deacons were ordained after eight and seven years of study respectively.
During the ordination mass led by Kampala Diocese Archbishop Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga on Saturday, 9 deacons and 11 seminarians were ordained.
Before the mass, the visibly excited priests and deacons were seen in lines being ushered into the church in company of their parents who later handed them over to Archbishop Lwanga for ordination.

In the church, it was ululations from the parents, guardians and friends whenever names of the new priests and deacons were called out for ordination.
The ordained priests were Jerome Luweero, Charles Mpiima, Patrick Ssekibbala, Francis Ssemakula, John Bosco Ssembatya, Thomas Tusuubira, Joseph Kato, Jude Kato and Anthony Kakaire.
The ordained deacons included Felix Kasibante, Emmanuel Katalemwa, Jude Mubiru, Simon Peter Ssekyanzi, Joseph Ssentongo, Charles Sserugunda, Francis Mukiibi, and Denis Yiga among others.

In his sermon, Archbishop Lwanga urged the ordained priests and deacons to live a holy life just like Jesus Christ did.
“In the Catholic Church, priests are religious officials; you should live a holy life. As priests, be holy because your God is holy,” said Lwanga.
