NEMOSTARS Volleyball Club won the National Club Championship crown for the first after a narrow victory over 12-time record winners KAVC.

The winners silenced their rivals 3-2 at the MTN Arena in Lugogo.

Success earned Nemostars a place at the Africa Club Championship scheduled for next year.

The final was pushed to Wednesday after the initial programme in Mbale two weeks failed to reach a conclusive end.

Kololo side Nemostars, making a second appearance in the final, took the decisive set 15-11 to claim the crown.

KAVC won the first set 25-21 before their rivals clawed back to level terms in the second and third sets 25-22 and 25-18.

KAVC fired back with a 25-14 win to level the scores at 2-2 and force the decisive set as fans of the respective clubs cheered on.

The elated Nemostars captain George Aporu praised his colleagues for the success after the match.

“This is the trophy we had never won before,” Aporu remarked.

Nkumba walked away with the women’s title after beating Ndejje 2-1.
