Indeed it was a memorable day as veterans Joanita Kawalya and Rachael Magoola together with the skinny female dancers spiced up the evening for our MPs who sang along with the artists when they played their old time hits while colleagues from other countries joined the fray to enjoy what generally we in Uganda know how to do best.

Old hits like Obangaina by Magoola and several local songs by Kawalya came as good memories to mainly female MPs and joined the artists on the wet grass along the Lake View field of the Speke Resort.

The band played several other hits from West African countries that went down well with several guests.

Then also came the dancers who picked male guests from the audience for a dance, forcing men who were not picked to instead go for their neighbours not to be left out.

The music went on as guests braved the cool breeze from the Lake Victoria shores. There were prolonged cheers as Dr. Chris Baryomunsi from the Ugandan parliament engaged Magoola for ‘paka cini’ strokes to her surprise.

Afrigo Band, however, who began the show late due to an earlier down pour, cut the music short to the annoyance of several guests fearing that the rain was preparing to hit again.

They feared for their machines but guests kept on echoing, ‘too early, continue, it was too short’.
