Cardinal Wamala publishes family book

 

trueCardinal Wamala, a retired clergy and former Archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese together with his brother Msgr Henry Kyabukasa, a teacher at Bukalasa minor seminary and his sister Sidona Nalubega Ssebowa, a window wrote a book titled “The Family of Cardinal Wamala”.

 

The 224-page book narrates the life of each of them and everyone in the family of their late father Cosmas Kyamera and Thereza Namayanja, who produced ten children. Unfortunately seven of them have since passed on.

 

The book that is already on sale in different book stores at shs20, 000 per copy, was launched on Tuesday by the Buganda Deputy Katikkiro, Emmanuel Ssendaula at Pope Paul VI Memorial Hotel, Ndeeba Kampala.

 

Cardinal Wamala narrates that he conceived the idea of writing a book after surviving a terrorist attack on February 3, 1992 at his home in Rubaga.

 

Spearheading the authorship of their book, Cardinal Wamala reflects on the word of God, particularly on the 21 hours he was held hostage by the heavily armed terrorist, Said Bbongo.

 

Said Bbongo said he was once a Catholic and hailed from Rukungiri; but changed to Islam for purposes of being promoted in Idi Amin’s Army in 1972.

 

Wamala says that the armed man had wanted President Museveni to hand over to him three people, short of that he would not live. He demanded to have the manager and the cashier of Florian Bar, Nakivubo and a man who, he said, had been with the cashier the previous night. He claimed they had infected his wife with HIV/AIDS.

 

However, the good thing was that the terrorist did not bar him from carrying on his normal duties in his office normally, which helped him to write the letter to Kyabukasa.

 

The copy of the letter in which he was telling his siblings that they would meet in heaven is also appended at the end of their book.
