THE Inspector General of Police Kale Kayihura is set to release the annual Police crime report for 2014 which shows a marked increase in violent crime

THE Inspector General of Gen. Police Kale Kayihura is set to release the annual Police crime report for 2014 which shows a marked increase in violent crime.

 

The report which New Vision has seen indicates that in 2014, police registered 258,771 complaints.

 

Of these, 103,720 were criminal cases in nature compared to 99,959 investigated the previous year. This represents a 3.8% increase in violent crime.

 

According to the report, defilement and murders topped.

 

Kasese, Masaka, Gulu and Bugiri districts registered the highest number of violent crime cases in the period under rewiew.
