GULU - The former prime minister and the vice president are good to embrace so that they can give strength to Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Rtd Maj. Gen Gregory Mugisha Muntu has said.

“Whatever gives strength as a party should be adopted and what weakens us should be rejected, “he noted.

Muntu said the resentment of John Patrick Amama Mbabazi (former premier) and Gilbert Bukenya (former vice president) within the National Resistance Movement (NRM) is a healthy move for FDC to take advantage of and become strong.

Muntu, who was addressing the sub region FDC delegates' meeting in Gulu municipality, said so long as both personalities are fighting for the same aim, they should be embraced.

The presidential hopeful explained that the current disunity in NRM is an opportunity to improve FDC’s internal capability and strength to restore hope in Ugandans.

Muntu is currently traversing the whole country soliciting support for the FDC flag bearer in the 2016 presidential campaigns.

He equally expressed disappointment over a recent move by Odonga Otto, the Aruu county legislator to protest against Mbabazi blocking him from visiting Acholi sub region.

The aspirant noted that it’s illogical for an FDC member to fight NRM’s internal problems describing it as a big error by Otto.

Muntu equally scoffed at a section of FDC members who look at him as a coward noting that he is just smart in his way of doing things.

“Being abused from all corners and failing to respond is not weakness but strength. Eventually because there’s no response, the war against you ends,” he explained.

He promised never to be at war with any person who attacks him, but asked party members to focus and concentrate their energies against the current government.

The delegates unanimously agreed to endorse Muntu as the party flag bearer for his unique way of dealing with the current political situation.

Muntu equally noted that, Uganda’s politics is not about emotion but analysis which requires fresh actor from the party.

He added that since he took over leadership, concentration has been on building the party structures, foster democracy, justice, hope and fairness which some people don’t see.

”Muntu has been concentrating on software of the party than the hardware which cannot be touched,” he noted.

Lucy Akello the woman Member of Parliament (MP’s) Amuru district cautioned fellow party members against spreading wrong propaganda noting that it will break the party.

Michael Lakony the Amuru district FDC chairman said some MP’s pretending to be for the party but operating contrary to the guidelines are the causers of the problems in the system.

Philip Okin from Kitgum district asked the party leaders to come out with a galvanized position that will put to order errant party members.
